Pacific Rim National Park Adventure

 

 

 

Immerse yourself in the world renowned Clayquot Sound -8 Days Backpack on the world famous West Coast Trail.








Even the name Clayquot Sound conjerns imagines of lush temporate rain forest, ancient huge trees carpeted and dripping with thick moss. This The West Coast of Canada’s spectacular Vancouver Island features a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pacific Rim National Park. We will spend 8 days exploring the West Coast Trail and its amazing eco-systems. Imagine kilometers of long ocean beaches buffered by lush Old Growth Temperate Rainforest. Spot pods of orca, grey and humpback whales, seals and sea lions, purple starfish and an abundance of marine life in countless tide pools. The trees in this area reach a thousand years, and in some cases, even two thousand years of age. This is an advanced trip, not requiring any previous experience, but a necessary commitment to physically demanding terrane and possible extreme weather conditions.

The trip starts and ends in Victoria, BC.  This allows for flexibility for those who wish to travel before or after the trip.  

The cost includes accommodation, transportation, shuttles and ferries, food, equipment and leadership.

This is an advanced trip, not requiring any previous experience, but a necessary commitment to physically demanding terrane and possible extreme weather conditions. 

 

 Itinerary: 

                April 30, Group meets in Victoria, BC.  A hotel is booked for
                 accommodation.  Please meet at the hotel 8pm for a group meeting.

               

                May 1, Bus leaves downtown Victoria at 6am to the West Coast
                Trailhead, arriving 8:30am.  Group will make arrangements for trail
                 hiking at Park Office and then depart on trail.

                

                 May 1-8, Hike the West Coast Trail.  Usually this trail can be
                 completed in 5-6 days, but it is physically demanding and taking more
                 time will allow for a leisurely pace and any potential bad weather
                 that may be encountered.  The scenery along the trail is amazing and
                 there are opportunities for side hikes if the group wishes.

 

  May 8, Arrive in Bamfield, BC where hotel accommodation is included.
   Bamfield is a beautiful town that right on the ocean.  If individuals
  wish to go Whale Watching in the Broken Island Group, arrangements can
   be made.

 

  May 9, Bus leaves Bamfield for Victoria at noon, arriving back in
   Victoria at 7pm.  There will be hotel accomodation provide in downtown
   Victoria on the evening.
