HISTORY OF MAC OUTDOOR CLUB
The McMaster Outdoor Club has been running at McMaster University since the 1970’s. Wayne Terryberry is currently the Outdoor Recreation Coordinator for the Department of Athletics and Recreation and works in conjunction with an executive committee consisting of approximately fifteen executive members.
The Club administers around ten events per month, with a peak of fifteen in September and January. These events range from free outings of several hours in length, to more costly week-long trips. The Outdoor Club is also somewhat distinct from other clubs in that it goes to great lengths to be inclusive of the entire community, not just McMaster students, as well the Club offers a variety of courses such as Kayaking and Canoeing Courses that can be found in the Leadership Section. The McMaster Outdoor Club is furthermore affiliated with a variety of other clubs such as the MAC Green , McMaster Whitewater Club and OPIRG.
Overall, the Outdoor Club has been around for many moons, and continues to grow every year.
Today, over 4,000! MAC Outdoor Club Members live by the spirit that "I'd rather be out in the middle of nowhere than nowhere at all," as they continue to join the Club on numerous exciting trips.
